Lower treatment costs, high standard!

The prime reason for considering tratment in Poland is cost savings, but one must not forget that altough treatment is indeed cheaper, the standards of medical care are still superb.
Since the early 1990’s when Poland welcomed long lost independence and democracy, the Poles started along the path to achieving western standards, which took them amazingly less than ten years!
The booming economy allowed many new hostpitals and private clinics in poland to spring to life and then be shaped and run using the example of western neighbors. Today, with currency exchange rate at roughly 4,5 PLN for 1 GBP, patients mostly from the UK and Scandinavia turn their attention to Polish private healthcare offer more and more often, and what they find is a market that is open and ready for medical tourists.
Along with clinics full of modern equipment and well educated and experienced doctors and staff, Poland has one more advantage – Medical Tourism Agencies, specializing in arranging treatment abroad for patients.
These agencies offer their expert knowledge of the medical services market, help you find the clinic that suits patients’ needs best. In addition, they will take care of travel arrangements, organize the entire stay, some even provide a 24h help line and a prepaid starter card a patient can use to contact them during the stay without roaming charges, regarding virtually any matter connected with your treatment or even local shopping advice!
Of course, there is usually a 10-20% of treatment spendings fee that they charge for their services, but they make sure patients feel safe and confident, and spend their money well.

Intragastric Balloon Treatment in Poland

While obesity and its associated diseases become a serious problem in the UK, the demand for weight loss solutions is still growing, leading to more interest in effective treatment, locally and abroad. Clinics in Poland fill the gap, offering their services to foreign patients on very attractive terms.
The cost difference can sometimes be astounding - the intragastric balloon system (BIB)- a non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical treatment of obesity in Polish clinics is around GBP 2000, where in the UK, the prices strart from GBP 4500!
The BIB obesity treatment is meant for patients with BMI of 30+, who wish to lose weight. Once inserted, the soft sillicone balloon is filled with up to 500ml of sterile saline solution, making it too big to pass into the bowel, so it floats freely in the stomach, making the patient feel full faster, and therefore eat less, and get used to new eating habits.
After the maximum period of six months the balloon is then deflated and removed, leaving the patient with up to 50% less excess weight, so for example, from the 100 extra pounds it is expected that you will lose up to 50 pounds during the period the balloon has been in its place.
The treatment requires two visits in Poland – one where the BIB balloon is insterted, and one when it is removed, and one or two consultations in the UK just to make sure everything is in order.
